Amenities for Self-Catering Comfort


When you're not out enjoying the Somerset or Devon countryside, or roaming Exmoor, enjoy all that The Old Chapel has to offer in comfortable and convenient amenities. 

A well equipped gourmet kitchen is a must for a self-catering holiday cottage and The Old Chapel has everything you will need to create wonderful meals while gazing out the south-facing kitchen window at that stunning view!

Personal and thoughtful touches are everywhere. Enjoy both sweet and savoury treats upon your arrival along with a hot cup of tea or coffee. There will be a generous supply of local tea and Nespresso pods on hand. If you have brought your dogs with you, there is a thoughtful treat for them as well. And if you have chosen to return to The Old Chapel, enjoy a special gift to both thank you and to welcome you back.


Beds & bedrooms
Bed linen is provided for our 2 king beds and 1 standard double and regardless of the number of guests, all beds are made up to give you freedom to choose. Enjoy the professional hairdryers in each bedroom and electric fans for warmer summer nights. There's plenty of hanging storage and clothes hangers, even padded ones.

Kitchen
Our kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, range (both convection and traditional), fridge/freezer, SMEG small appliances, Nespresso coffee machine, Denby dishes and cookware, Le Creuset bakeware, loads of gourmet gadgets and serving ware. There is plenty of glassware for your favourite G&T, glass of wine or glass of bubbly if you're celebrating something special - or nothing at all! You'll also find a clothes iron and ironing board. White goods (washer and tumble dryer) can be found in our timber shed along with a handy drying rack. 

Bathrooms
There are 2 bathrooms on the first floor and 3 WCs in the cottage, including on the ground floor for your convenience. Towels are provided and a special touch in the bathrooms? Lighted magnifying makeup mirrors that won't fog.  The master bedroom has its own ensuite shower room and WC.

Families
For your security and safety, our courtyard is enclosed. For families, a travel cot, high chair, fireguard and stairgate are provided for better peace of mind. 

Outdoors
There is a dedicated, private parking spot across from the cottage. There is also a free car park in the village, just past the cattle grid. Enjoy the south-facing view from the enclosed courtyard with seating for six. It's a perfect spot for that first morning tea or coffee. 

Special Features
For those chilly evenings in the colder months, enjoy the open fire/woodburner and a complimentary basket of logs.  We have even provided non-toxic and eco-friendly firestarters to make the job a little easier. There are board games in the family room as well as a small selection of recent bestsellers. Bringing a mountain bike with you? Store it securely in the timber shed that is equipped with a stand-up bike rack and convenient charging for your e-bike battery.

Technology
 The cottage is equipped with WiFi, 2 x Bose 500 Home Speakers, a Sonos Surround Sound System and a Samsung SmartTV with multiple streaming services. Best of all - four Alexa personal assistants allowing you to independently stream music in four different locations in the cottage - along with all the other Alexa services you can access. Everything is easy to use but you can find full instructions in the guest binder (on the desk in the lounge) and in our "electronic" guest info web page accessible to you upon booking.

Nearby Activities
There is a wealth of outdoor activities on Exmoor, including some of the best walking, right on your doorstep. There is fishing, pony trekking and horse riding to name just a few! Children will love all the opportunities to get to know nature up close! At the end of the day, you can just sit back, relax and take in the scenery. 

How far to ...?
Situated in the heart of Exmoor, the coast is a short 16 mile drive and the moor has direct access from the village. The Royal Oak Inn and pub is a 2 minute stroll. Refer to the guest binder for more of our dining recommendations in neighbouring villages. There is a wealth of culinary delights within a short drive.
